The Rewind
Cinematographer | Colorist
Festival Run 2025
Director: Diana Porter and Mikel Wisler
About the Project
Rewind follows Josh, who’s desperate to get his wife Nina back. He turns to a new technology that lets people re-live a difficult moment in hopes of learning something that will fix their life.. but the deeper he goes, the more he realizes it doesn’t work the way he wants it to. I was responsible for the cinematography on set and the final grade in Resolve.

The Process
Pre-Production
Before we shot, I worked with the directors Mikel and Diana to shape the shot list around one core challenge: how do we move Josh between these “technological” worlds without confusing the audience? A big part of the planning was building a clear visual difference between reality and what Josh is experiencing inside the therapy.. so the transitions feel intentional, not just like coverage.
Production
On set, I worked closely with Walter Stone (Gaffer) and Jamie DiCiccio (1st AC) to pull off the technical camera moves and keep the visual language consistent. The goal was a world that feels familiar at first, but slightly heightened and uneasy, so even normal moments carry a sense that something isn’t quite right. We kept the camera and lighting choices tied to Josh’s headspace, so the visual shifts track with what he’s trying to control (and what he can’t).
Post-Production
This was the first narrative short film I ever shot and colored, and it taught me a lot.. especially about working with RAW footage. In the grade, I focused on reinforcing the separation between worlds. The goal wasn’t to “stylize” the film into something artificial, it was to make reality feel sharper, more exposed, and harder to escape as Josh keeps rewinding.
